Banff National Park
Egypt Lake
Description:
..Egypt is a peaceful, unassuming lake whose only backdrop is a small
cone-shaped peak known locally as Sugarloaf Mountain.
June 2004
When I
finally arrived at the campground, I immediately dropped the pack at the shelter
(a little cabin) a took a look around. "Where's the lake?" "Where's the
campground spaces?" after several minutes of searching, I found the pathetic
little campground spaces and was instantly glad that I brought my hammock/tent.
Further investigation found that although the campground was named Egypt Lake,
the Lake was almost a km away. This was nothing like I imagined!!
While I
was unbothered on the trail, the mosquitoes were relentless at the campsite
itself and the shelter was a welcome haven for cooking and packing mosquito
free.
I
rained non-stop until I left the next morning the moment I stopped exploring the
area in the early afternoon.
